DDRX Team Wins 4th Place at the 18th F1TENTH Autonomous Driving Grand Prix 2024
Jeju Island, South Korea – June 5, 2024 – The DDRX team from Zhejiang University (Driving, Drifting, Racing, and X) secured 4th place at the 18th F1TENTH Autonomous Driving Grand Prix, held during the 35th IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV 2024). The team showcased their technical prowess and strong collaboration, making a significant contribution to the advancement of autonomous driving technology.
The F1TENTH Autonomous Driving Grand Prix is organized by leading researchers, engineers, and enthusiasts in the field of autonomous systems, aiming to drive innovation and the development of autonomous driving technologies. This year's competition attracted teams from around the world, providing a challenging platform for teams to test their technical skills, teamwork, and innovative capabilities.
Competition Recap
June 3, 2024 – The competition officially began with all teams conducting a 10-minute mapping session, followed by free practice. The DDRX team actively engaged with international teams, exchanging ideas and gaining new insights to improve their system. During the free practice session, the team worked overnight to fine-tune and optimize the vehicle systems, ensuring peak performance for the race.
June 4, 2024 – Teams participated in the Time Trial Race, each having 5 minutes of track time in the morning and afternoon. DDRX completed 18 laps without collisions, with the fastest lap time of 13.38 seconds, finishing in 5th place.
June 5, 2024 – Based on the results of the Time Trial Race, teams moved on to the Head-to-Head Race. DDRX ultimately finished with an impressive 4th place.
